Job Summary:
The Satellite Communications Specialist plays a crucial role in the Aerospace Technology Department, responsible for managing satellite communication systems and ensuring seamless communication for aviation and aerospace operations. The specialist will design, implement, and maintain satellite communication systems, troubleshoot issues, and provide technical support to ensure reliable and secure transmissions.
Key Responsibilities:
1. Design, develop, and implement satellite communication systems for aviation and aerospace applications.
2. Ensure the efficient functioning of satellite communication systems, including antennas, transceivers, modems, and associated hardware.
3. Conduct regular maintenance and inspections of satellite communication equipment to ensure optimal performance and reliability.
4. Troubleshoot and resolve technical issues related to satellite communication systems, including signal quality, link stability, and interference problems.
5. Coordinate with cross-functional teams to integrate satellite communication systems with existing aviation and aerospace infrastructure.
6. Monitor and analyze satellite communication network performance, identifying areas for improvement and implementing necessary changes.
7. Collaborate with external vendors and service providers to procure satellite communication equipment and services as required.
8. Stay updated with industry trends, advancements, and best practices in satellite communication technology.
9. Conduct training sessions for aviation and aerospace personnel on the proper use and maintenance of satellite communication equipment.
10. Adhere to regulatory compliance requirements and security protocols for satellite communication systems.
Skills and Qualifications:
1. Bachelor's degree in Aerospace Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Telecommunication Engineering, or a related field.
2. Proven experience in designing, implementing, and maintaining satellite communication systems.
3. In-depth knowledge of satellite communication technologies, including VSAT, L-band, Ku-band, C-band, and Ka-band.
4. Proficient in using satellite communication equipment, such as antennas, transceivers, modems, and signal analyzers.
5. Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving skills to address satellite communication system issues.
6. Familiarity with industry standards and protocols for satellite communication, such as DVB-S2, IP over Satellite, and SCPC.
7. Ability to analyze network performance metrics and implement necessary optimizations.
8. Excellent collaboration and communication skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams and external stakeholders.
9. Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
10. Understanding of regulatory compliance and security requirements for satellite communication systems.
